Video: Tony Farmer collapses in court after being sentenced to three years for kidnapping his girlfriend

tony-farmer-collapse-sentence.jpgOhio basketball star Tony Farmer, who was a top college recruit this year, has been sentenced to three years in jail for kidnapping his girlfriend. He was one of the top 100 college recruits in the country, according to the NY Daily News.

On Wednesday, a Cuyahoga County Court Judge told Farmer he would serve three years for kidnapping, two years for felonious assault, and two years for robbery. Believing that he'd be going to jail for seven years, Farmer's knees buckled and he collapsed to the ground. Courtroom security had trouble getting the 6' 7", 220 lb. basketball star to his week.

In the video, wails can be heard from those supporting him -- before the judge revealed that his sentences would be served concurrently, meaning he will spend 3 years in prison.

Farmer, who is going into his senior year at Garfield Heights High School, was charged after a fight with his girlfriend at her apartment in May. According to reports, he assaulted his girlfriend, dragged her out of her apartment, took away her keys, phone, bank card, and computer, and threatened her via text and voicemail.
