D'Onofrio left the series after the eighth season, but will return to the franchise for its final eight new episodes that will air in 2011 and will serve as a wrap-up for the series, says USA

D'Onofrio did appear in the two-part premiere of Season 9 that aired this past spring on March 30 and April 6, where his character Detective Robert Goren passed the reins of the Major Case Squad to Detective Zack Nichols ( Jeff Goldblum). There is no word yet as to how many episodes of the 10th season will include D'Onofrio, but he did tease in September 2009 when his departure was announced that he "wouldn't be surprised if Goren pops up from time to time."
