Shannon Rogers Guess Richardson, an actress who has appeared in shows like "The Walking Dead" and "The Vampire Diaries," has been arrested in connection with three ricin-laced letters sent to President Barack Obama, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and a non-profit associated with Bloomberg.

Richardson, who acts under the name of Shannon Guess, came to the attention of authorities investigating the case when she implicated her husband, Nathaniel Richardson, as the culprit behind the letters. According to NBC News, investigators now think it was Shannon who actually mailed the letters.

Neither of the Richardsons -- who live in Texas, about 100 miles from where the three letters were mailed in Louisiana -- were suspects in the ricin case until Shannon called the police after she supposedly found "Tupperware with what looked like ricin in the refrigerator" (as reported by the New York Post, who apparently didn't think that storing ricin in the fridge was an odd lead).

Castor beans, used to make ricin, were also found in Nathaniel Richardson's car and suspicious web searches appeared on the family's computer. Despite this, Nathaniel insisted he was innocent and that his wife had set him up because of the couple's upcoming divorce.

It seems that the authorities have taken these allegations seriously, but no further details about Shannon Richardson's arrest have been released. In addition to small roles on "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Walking Dead," the 38-year-old mother of five has had bit parts in "Drop Dead Diva" and several films.

"You will have to kill me and my family before you get my guns. Anyone who wants to come to my house will get shot in the face. The right to bear arms is my constitutional God given right and I will exercise that right till the day I die."

The letters to Bloomberg and Obama were caught during routine security checks.
