The Westboro Baptist Church is known for a few things, none of which includes tact. The group, based out of Topeka, Kansas, found infamy when they began protesting the funerals of American soldiers to died in combat. Their extreme anti-gay views have kept them firmly ensconced in the media, if only because they're so loud about it.
Always willing to piggyback on anything that will bring them press, it didn't take long for the church to address the death of "Glee" star Cory Monteith, claiming he had been "struck down by God" and announcing they planned to picket his funeral.
Then the church took it up a notch, directly tweeting to Monteith's girlfriend, "Glee" co-star Lea Michele. In the tweets, the church declares "Praise God for killing Cory Monteith" and questions if Lea would follow suit, committing suicide.
Monteith was f ound dead in his Vancouver hotel room Saturday (July 13), when the staff looked in on him after he failed to check out on time. No funeral plans have been announced, but a memorial has begun outside the hotel where he died.
You can see the church's messages on their Twitter account, but be warned the language used is very NSFW.
