Why did Justin Bieber skip the Teen Choice Awards?

There was one person noticeably absent from the 2013 Teen Choice Awards, and that man is Justin Bieber. Bieber was nominated for four different surfboards and actually won three. However, none of them were presented on the air.

So, where was Justin? On a break, it seems. After a Saturday night (August 11) concert in Atlanta, Justin tweeted, "WE ON A BREAK!!" Who knows where this break is taking him, but if he were at home it would have been easy to hop in his chrome Fisker and have  Lil' Twist run him over to the Gibson Amphitheatre.

After all, these are the awards that are given out based on votes submitted by fans. Who better to show up to celebrate than the people who made you who you are?

Justin didn't let the night go by without thanking his fans, though. He sent a couple tweets after the show. First, he writes, "4 years in a row. #tcas . That's love. Thank u. Enjoying the break. But always here. Thank u. This is forever :)" That was followed two minutes later with, "Our story. Our awards. Our songs. Our albums. Our tour. Our journey ... just beginning. This is forever. Thank u. Love."

The break Justin is on isn't exactly a short one, either. His next concert isn't until September 26, when he heads to Thailand. Even though he didn't attend the Teen Choice Awards, he still gets three surfboards, including Choice Twitter Personality. He beat President Barack Obama for that one. Really. Justin also snagged surfboards for Choice Male Artist and Choice Single from a Male Artist for "Beauty and a Beat.".
