'X Factor's' Josh Levi 'honored' by Chris Brown, Michael Jackson musical comparisions

josh-levi-x-factor-top-10.jpgFor "The X Factor" Top 10 performances, Josh Levi turned the Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams" into a cool R&B jam for British Invasion week -- complete with some dancing bobbies in the background that judge Simon Cowell thought were ridiculous. But Levi tells Zap2it he's just flattered Simon thinks he doesn't need them.

"It's hard ... because I'm performing and can't see what's happening behind me," says Levi. "I am honored that he said I can command the stage without them. But I don't know, they're there for a reason. We'll see what happens next week."

Levi has become known for his interesting arrangements for the songs he chooses, but he says he definitely can't take the credit.

"I worked with our producer [Julian Bunetta] who's really the genius behind the production of my songs. I kind of pitch in my melodies and stuff -- it's collective but Julian is the mastermind behind the stuff," says Levi.

Judge Demi Lovato has said that Levi reminds her of a young Chris Brown (vocally, not personally), which he says is certainly a compliment, but he's his own man.

"I'm definitely inspired by Chris Brown's music and I appreciate her compliments comparing me to someone who's done so well," says Levi. "But at the same time I want her to realize that I'm my own artist and I'm not Chris Brown or Michael Jackson. Even though people say I look or sound like him, I'm not Bruno Mars -- I'm my own Josh Levi and there's a place for me. Although I am honored to be compared to all those people."

Do you think Josh Levi is an "X Factor" frontrunner? We would say he is. Tune in Thursday (Nov. 21) for another double elimination at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
