Zooey Deschanel, Paul Rudd talk 'Our Idiot Brother': Lesbian kissing, the titular character and being 'somewhat slutty'

zooey-deschanel-rashida-jones-our-idiot-brother.jpg"Our Idiot Brother," the comedic story of family loser and painfully honest Ned ( Paul Rudd) trying to clean up his act while out on parole, opens nationwide this weekend. But Rudd tells the New York Times he actually doesn't think the title is maybe all that accurate. "I never considered [Ned] idiotic. I felt it was the opposite."

Co-star Zooey Deschanel tells the New York Post of the movie, "The movie is about a family, three sisters and a brother so different that his honesty gets in the way of their lives. I play the freer, more open sister. My character is somewhat slutty."

Rashida Jones plays Cindy, a lesbian who has an on-screen kissing scene with Deschanel. Jones tells The Advocate her first girl kiss was quite nice. "I was like, 'Oh, my God, girls are so pretty and soft. No stubble burn! What am I doing with guys?' [ laughs] I haven't dipped back since, but I was very appreciative of the experience."

What are the critics saying? Well, Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper gave it good reviews, but Variety and the Hollywood Reporter not so much.
