Los Angeles in the 1940s is full of glamorous movie stars, powerful studio heads and returning war heroes. But it’s also the backdrop to a tug of war between a corrupt police force and a violent criminal network determined to make the city its West Coast home. Detective Joe Teague, an ex-Marine who plays his cards close to his chest, gets caught in the middle of that war during his assignment to the new Organized Crime Division. It’s headed by Detective Hal Morrison, who becomes suspicious after learning Teague is asked to help blackmail a high-powered mobster. However, police Capt. William Parker sees the scheme as a perfect opportunity to bring down infamous gangsters like Ben “Bugsy” Siegel and Mickey Cohen, and he looks to Teague for key information in the LAPD’s crusade against organized crime. “Mob City” is based on John Buntin’s critically acclaimed book “L.A. Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America’s Most Seductive City” and is executive produced by Frank Darabont.
